Have The Professionals Take Care Of The Installation
So you have just completed the testing for radon in your home or business. Now what? First, we want you to take a second to relax and remember one important factor about your radon testing results. If your radon test was done by a device that was bought in a big box store, and your results exceed 2 pCi/L, we suggest that you now call a professional radon company to come out and conduct a more thorough test. This is because most testing devices that are bought over-the-counter at big box stores are very basic in nature. Professional radon companies will conduct more detailed and in depth testing procedures to give you a much more accurate result. This will ensure you know exactly what you are dealing with. With a certified, professional radon testing company already out conducting the test, it will be a much easier transition to having a system installed if necessary.
When it comes to understanding the test results, make sure you ask a certified radon specialist for a detailed analysis. For the most part, radon at any level is bad for your health during extended exposure periods. Obviously, the lower the testing levels, the lower the risk of adverse health problems for you and your family. Currently the EPA states that any level under 4 pCi/L should be followed with the installation of a radon mitigation system. These radon mitigation systems will ensure that the radon levels get down to a much safer level. Once you have decided to get a radon mitigation system installed into your home or business, there are several factors that you should remember. First, always hire a licensed, professional radon company to complete the final test and installation. It takes continuous practice, a little skill and the correct equipment to properly install a system. Second, not all radon companies will charge the same for installations. Do your due diligence and call around and find out what companies have the most affordable prices but yet still use the best materials.
Here at North Central Radon Mitigation, we have extremely competitive pricing and we use the best materials around. Our experts have more than 40 years of combined experience in the field. Futhermore, their experience and knowledge is well above industry standard. We lead with customer satisfaction, and we make sure that you don’t pay a dime until you are completely satisfied with our service. Most other radon companies will actually be multi-facet in nature. They will usually do things like radon testing, mold testing, water damage, and epoxy flooring all within one business. That’s great and all, but that also means that they are not centrally focused on one service. At North Central Radon all we do is Radon, nothing else. Because of this, we are able to focus on radon testing, radon reduction and system installation. This ensures that you are getting the best prices and the best service.

So how does the process work of installing a system into your home? It is a systematic step by step process with the main goal of removing the radon from your home back into the environment. Radon naturally comes from the ground, so the basic premise is to drill holes into the ground to extract those gases up and out of your home via PVC piping. The process starts by drilling holes into the foundation of the home, usually the basement. This will give access to the radon to be relieved up through the floor and foundation of the home. We then need to either drill holes into your home or roof where the relief piping can go to expel the radon gases out of your home. This process requires precise measurements of location of the drilling as well as placement of PVC piping so that no radon moisture will leak around the pipe. This is why having a radon specialist is usually recommended rather than trying to do this project alone. The next step is probably the most important one, and that is the installation of the exhaust fan. This fan will create the suction that is needed to extract the radon from the ground and from the home into the piping and out into the environment. Without this fan, there would be no movement of the radon gas throughout the pipe. This fan usually is located in the attic or near the exit point of the home where the radon gas will leave. Again, this step is crucial due to not allowing any moisture the leak out around the fan. The final stage of the radon mitigation system process is to install a pressure gauge into the system for continuous monitoring of the fan to make sure it’s working. Upon completion of the installation we recommend a continuous monitoring of the radon levels in the home. If done correctly, those levels should be minimal, but it is important for reassurance that the system is working.
This step by step approach to installing a radon system is not that complicated, but it can be a challenge. If not done correctly, it can cause more harm than good. This is why we recommend having a professional team come in and take care of this process for you. At North Central Radon, we ensure the best care and most professional system installation with a price that cannot be beaten.
