How Do You Determine If You Have A Radon Issue?

There are three main ways you can test your home or commercial property to find out if you have a radon issue. The first is an at-home radon inspection kit. It is important to note that this radon trial is conducted under closed conditions. This means that generally, no one should be in the property from 12 hours before the radon test begins all the way through the time period when the radon inspection is completed. If the test reads at or above 4 pCi/L, the EPA recommends you take the proper measures to remove or mitigate the radon fumes from your home. This process of removing the radon gas from your home is called radon relief or radon abatement.

The second professional radon test is known as the long-term radon inquiry or the occupant exposure radon analysis. This test generally lasts longer than 90 days, and can sometimes take up to one year. Because this radon test takes longer to properly implement, this verification is generally conducted under normal living conditions. Therefore, the homeowner or commercial property owner may be present in the property while the radon check is being completed. Similar to the radon potential test, the testing equipment for the occupant exposure radon test is also deployed at the lowest level of the home.

How Do You Fix A Home That Tests High For Radon?
